 *CREATIVE STYLIST

Ever since I remember I was passionate about hair, I guess I got that from my mum, I couldnt wait to leave school and start my apprenticeship in a very busy, well known salon in Central Coventry. My creative flair & passion for the hairdressing industry resulted in me qualifying earlier than the usual three years and enjoying the hectic and busy life as a stylist in a city centre salon. After many years of developing my skills and working my way through extensive training and to a "Top Stylist" within the salon I felt it time to take my career to the next level.         

I Joined a great team in a department store in Leamington Spa working for an International Hair & Beauty Company, I was blown away by the level of customer service and professionalism of this company, I loved the constant training we were given both in our Training Academy & those of Wella, Loreal & Vidal Sassoon around the UK. For this I owe the company. It was a big team, atleast 20 of us in this salon and a further 300+ salons around the UK, thats what made it fun as we were often covering team members in other salons, attending competitions & seminars and we all worked together as a big team. It didnt take me long to want more, Management was my next focus so after shadowing my manager and attending endless management programs I worked my way to her Assistant Manager and transfered to manage my own salon in Solihull.

In the year 2000 I transfered from Solihull to open a new salon in the centre of Leamington Spa where I continued to develop not only my hairdressing, retail & management skills but also those of my team. Team building, motivating, salon training & team development was my forte, ensuring they reached there salon and personal goals was so rewarding, watching my team grow and becoming the best at what they do, and watching the salon take off and become a success meant it was no big surprise that I wanted to take on the next challenge.

In 2009 I became an area manager and was responsible for 11 Regis Hair & Beauty Salons. The area  covered  Torquay, Plymouh, Taunton, Yeovil, Swindon. Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Leamington Spa, Coventry & Norhampton, so all on the western cirridor of  the UK. It was a huge challenge for me to step away from the chair but taught me so much when it came to Business Development, Management, HR, Marketing and so the list goes on.

I have to say, my career path so far has been amazing and there isnt a single thing that I would change, I would be lying if I told you I didnt miss management, its one thing that I found totally rewarding and gave me the challenges & goals I thrive on, but there is one thing that stepping away from behind the chair made me realise... We must act out passion before we can feel it!
